PRIVACY POLICY
This Privacy Policy governs how Oregon Center for Nursing (“OCN”), in its management and administration of the StudentMAX program and website www.studentmax.org (collectively, the “Site”), handles and protects your personal information.
In using the Site, you agree to this Privacy Policy, and any revisions made to this Privacy Policy. You also agree that you are subject to the terms and conditions of the StudentMax End-User License Agreement (the “EULA”), which you must review and accept prior to accessing the Site.
Collection and Use of Personal Information
OCN collects limited personally identifiable information when you register to use the Site. When you register, we ask for your organization name, the user names and email addresses for all of your authorized users, units, types of service your organization offers, and required student credential information.
If you are a student, we collect your name, email address, school name, and credentials, including immunization records and orientations completed.
How We Use Your Personal Information
OCN uses your personal information for the administration of the Site and to set up your and your users’ access to same.
If you are a student, information is used to verify that you are eligible for placements at a particular facility. When you register, you will select which school (called an “education partner”) with which you wish to share your personal information. That school will in turn share this information with hospitals and other clinical facilities for the purpose of clinical placements. You therefore acknowledge and agree that the personal information given on the Site may be shared by your selected school with hospitals and other clinical facilities.
OCN complies with all applicable laws and regulations relating to the use of your personal information and personal health information, such as HIPAA.
We use non-personally identifiable information and certain technical information about your computer in order to operate, maintain, and manage the Site.
Information Disclosure
Other than as set forth above, neither OCN nor its agents will disclose your information to third parties. Possible exceptions to this may be:
- You requested to us in writing that we do so;
- To investigate, prevent, or take action regarding any illegal activity, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person, violations of the EULA, or if otherwise required by law;
- For the performance of our operations, such as Site maintenance or hosting services;
- If the Site is acquired by or licensed to another organization. In this event, OCN will notify you by email and/or put prominent notice on the Site before any information about you is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
Cookies
A cookie is a small amount of data which may include an anonymous unique identifier. Cookies are sent to your browser from a website’s computers and are stored on your computer’s hard drive. OCN uses cookies to record current session information. You are responsible for ensuring that your account is protected (by logging off, etc.) and that your password is kept confidential.
Information Storage
All information you provide to us is stored on secure servers that are protected in secure facilities including firewall protection. OCN has implemented such technology and security features, as well as strict internal guidelines, to safeguard the privacy of your personal information from unauthorized access or improper use. We will continue to enhance security as new technology becomes available.
While we make every effort to ensure that your information is secure on our system, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, we cannot guarantee the security of any information you transmit to us, and you do this at your own risk.
Your account information is password-protected for your privacy and security. You can play an important role in keeping your personal information secure by maintaining its confidentiality. Please advise us immediately if there is any unauthorized use of your account by any other Internet user or any other breach of security.
Editing or Questions About Your Account
You can log-in to your account to update your password. Your Network Administrator has the ability to cancel any authorized user accounts. You may also contact us at support@studentmax.org with any questions about your account.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
OCN may, from time to time, review and edit this Privacy Policy as needed or as required by law. We reserve the right to change this Privacy Policy at any time without notice to you.
Children’s Online Privacy Protection
The Site is not intended, designed for, or directed to children under the age of 18, and we will not intentionally collect or maintain information about anyone under the age of 18. If it comes to our attention that we have received personal information about anyone under the age of 18, such information will be immediately deleted from our records.
